The Spread Eagle

The Spread Eagle is a must visit as it enjoys the accolade of being London’s first 100% vegan pub. Being one of East London’s oldest drinking holes, it’s a true local boozer in both atmosphere and appearance, but it’s also at the forefront of 21st century dining with its all vegan, sustainably sourced kitchen and bar.

Their seasonal menu hosts innovative takes on traditional British pub food and classic desserts, which reflect the diversity of the local culture. Working with regional suppliers, The Spread Eagle’s vegan offerings are created with ethically sourced quality ingredients, as the environment is always at the forefront of their thinking.

Enjoy their signature dishes including their plant-based twists on Sunday Roasts featuring the ‘Beet Wellington’ and ‘Pot Roast Celeriac & Potato Crackling’ or if it’s not a Sunday, indulge in one of their big plates or classic burgers. To finish the sticky toffee pudding can’t be missed, particularly when washed down with one of their premium dessert liquors.

What impressed me the most was the fact that not only is the food completely vegan but amazingly the drinks are as well. Everything is selected from vegan producers with no addition of finings, something that ensures only the most natural and organic spirits, beers, wines and cocktails are served here.

The Spread Eagle consistently dishes up some of the most tempting pub food around and with its humble and warming neighbourhood vibe, you’ll always feel welcomed. It’s one of my beloved East London gems and an essential go-to when you are craving a wholesome Sunday roast that will leave you feeling glorious!
