Nerudova 211

Nestled within Prague’s picturesque cobbled passageways, just moments from the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, this enchanting boutique hotel takes its name from the street it calls home. While researching accommodation options online, this particular gem immediately stood out to me - its prime location and exquisite design, adorned with stunning frescoes, wooden ceilings and authentic old-world touches, made it completely irresistible!
The historical townhouse, which evolved into its Baroque form between 1705 and 1723, once belonged to the renowned Czech architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, a visionary who pioneered Prague’s Baroque Gothic style. Unfortunately, over the years the building fell into disrepair, but in 2022, the current owners Jan and Sarah undertook a meticulous renovation, restoring its unique details and timeless elegance, breathing life back into its remarkable history. Among my favourite features were the Medusa relief guarding the entrance, the breathtaking frescoes adorning the inner courtyard walls, and the hand-painted ceilings that guide you up the stairwell.
The entrepreneurial couple have now created a gorgeous family-run hotel which provides exceptional attention to detail making for a truly remarkable stay. Its selection of exquisitely decorated rooms radiates warmth and cosiness, but the moment I saw photos of the Attic suite, I fell in love. Set across two floors the suite offers astonishing views of the city’s rooftops which look particularly magnificent at sunrise and sunset. The room also includes a delightful writing desk and a golden globe stocked with different spirits, which made the room even more magical!
Downstairs, the Nerudova 211 Café welcomes guests with an à la carte breakfast featuring their famed eggs benedict and French toast. While I chose to forgo breakfast, I enjoyed stopping by for a matcha to accompany my morning walk. In the early evenings, the café showcases an excellent selection of craft wines, while later in the hotel’s lobby, guests are treated to a complimentary light supper of sandwiches and pastries from the café. A delightful touch that perfectly encapsulates the warmth and hospitality of this extraordinary hotel.
