Ireland - Halloween Itinerary
Day 1
Fly into Dublin airport.
Visit the Bective Tea rooms in Navan for lunch and delicious Halloween treats.
Take a guided walking tour of Tlachtga (The Hill of Ward), cited as one of the earliest sites of Halloween where the Great Fire Festival began on the eve of Samhain. Experience the ancient practice of divining to talk to the spirits which live there and also use the practice to learn how to locate water.
Check in at the beautiful family-run boutique Station House Hotel in Kilmessan.
Enjoy dinner at the award-winning Signal restaurant at the hotel.
Day 2
Experience a traditional Irish breakfast at the hotel.
Drive around 45 mins to Bru na Boinne and take a tour of Brú na Bóinne and the Newgrange Chamber. Nestled within a sweeping bend of the River Boyne, Brú na Bóinne is Ireland’s most treasured archaeological landscape and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. This sacred complex is home to the awe-inspiring prehistoric passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth. The monumental structures were built around 3200 BC, predating Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids.
Leave Brú na Bóinne for the historic village of Slane for lunch at the Conyngham Arms Restaurant.
Depart Slane Village for the Station House Hotel and enjoy a few hours to relax.
Set off for the Fair Green in Athboy and assemble for the lighting of the Samhain Fire.
Watch the magical lighting of the Samhain fire as well as fire performances, rhythmic drumming, and live music which ignite the spirit of this special night. This elemental gathering marks the turning of the year with spectacle and sound.
End the night at the Púca Festival Samhain Banquet. An unforgettable evening of Irish music and dance at the Darnley Lodge Hotel. The magic of Ireland comes alive through spirited performances, lively rhythms, and a delicious meal steeped in local flavour.
Day 3
Have a leisurely morning at the hotel and take a walk into the village of Kilmessan to visit the graveyard of the Church of the Nativity of Our Lady.
Depart the hotel and journey to the historic town of Trim, where the veil between worlds grows thin. Step into the eerie Porchfields for a Samhain storytelling experience. Guided by ancient lore, you’ll embark on a spectral quest to uncover the spirits and mischievous beings that dwell just beyond the veil.
Spend the afternoon exploring the Púca Festival Harvest Market, where tradition, craftsmanship and ancient heritage come together. Set within an enchanting festival atmosphere it’s more than a market, it’s a portal to Ireland’s past.
If you have time, you can also visit Trim Castle, St Patrick's Church and St. Loman's Cemetery.
As dusk falls get in position for the Púca Procession and witness the magical parade of mythical figures weave through the streets. The procession revels in Samhain lore, entwining themes of wilderness, devilment, and jubilant mischief marking the turning of the year.
After the show, head over to Trim Castle to watch the castle projections and the fire show.
Enjoy a late dinner and drinks at the traditional Brogans restaurant before heading over to the Big Top to watch a range of international DJs!
