Caledonian Cabins
The magical Shepherd’s Hut is tucked away in the perfect location for your stay in the Scottish Highlands. Situated centrally between Ben Nevis, the Isle of Skye and the Cairngorms it’s a wonderful base to start and end your day of adventures. The two-person hut is run by Caledonian Cabins who have three properties nestled in the woods, just by the shore of the stunning Loch Gary in Invergarry.
Surrounded by enchanted woodland, mystical mountains and serene lochs, you are completely immersed in the Scottish wilderness and its awe-inspiring landscape. The luxury log cabin was handcrafted using traditional methods by a father and son duo, who used an old army trailer for the chassis and western red cedar logs from Canada for the build. The inside is filled with quirky antiques and trinkets making for an extremely cosy aesthetic brimming with character and charm. I loved the layout of the cabin and it felt much larger and more spacious in real life than it looks in the photographs!
You can enjoy the views overlooking a babbling stream from the wooden deck outside or take a relaxing soak in the wooden hot tub, heated by its very own log burner. If you are feeling adventurous, head down to the shoreline where you will find canoes, paddle boards and a rowing boat, all of which you can take out on the loch. Or if you are looking for some downtime, climb up into their viewing pod, which is a superb spot to get lost in a book whilst admiring the picturesque scenery around you.
The perfect escape to reconnect with nature, unwind in peaceful surroundings and disconnect from the everyday; the Shepherd’s hut provides a completely authentic Scottish experience and a stay which I would wholeheartedly recommend.
