The Best Doughnuts in London — My Top 3

Doughnuts! Who doesn’t love doughnuts?

Baked vs Fried. Filled vs Holed. Fruit vs Cream. No matter what shape, size or flavour they are all absolutely heavenly!

Now luckily for us, London has a tremendous selection of standout bakeries serving up some of the most delicious doughy delights around. So, if like me you dream of doughnuts, here are my top three recommendations.

Plus, if you’d like to see them in all their glory, then click through to watch my video here!

1. Dulce De Leche with Sprinkles Crodough from Rinkoff Bakery

Whilst technically it’s not 100% pure doughnut, the glorious Crodoughs from Rinkoff Bakery definitely deserve a top spot on the list! Their culinary mash up croissant pastry which is fried like a doughnut and then injected with divine fillings, takes London’s doughnut game to new heights.

They offer a wide range of delicious flavours to choose from, but if you only have room for one, then in my opinion it has to be the delicious Dulce De Leche with Sprinkles. Heavenly sweet, dulce de leche is injected into the luscious layers of the bake and then the whole thing is topped off with those joyous rainbow sprinkles that we all know and love.

Want to feel the joy even when it’s not your birthday? Then their ultimate party Crodough is the one for you.

2. Sea Salted Caramel and Honeycomb Doughnut from Bread Ahead

Bread Ahead 3.jpg

Renowned for their cult doughnuts in the artisan baking world, Bread Ahead are hailed as the baking gods of Borough Market. They serve up some of the most luxurious and divine doughnuts around, with a wide selection of indulgent piped flavours and fillings. After many mouth-watering visits here, for me personally it’s still all about their Sea Salted Caramel and Honeycomb doughnut.

Oozing with crème caramel the doughnut itself is overflowing with glorious goodness and is decorated with a large shard of dazzling honeycomb on top. It looks incredible and tastes even better, so it’s no surprise these beauties fly off their racks every day and regularly sell out before noon.

If there’s one place to add to your doughnut bucket-list it has to be Bread Ahead, just make sure to get down there early before they all sell out!

3. Vanilla Doughnut from St. JOHN Bakery

St. JOHN 5-1.jpg

It’s a classic! You can’t get a more superior simple, stuffed, no nonsense doughnut than the one you’ll discover at St. JOHN Bakery. Their creamy custard filled doughnut is undoubtably in a league of its own (with the chocolate coming a very close second).

Their bakers pride themselves in producing light and fluffy doughs to create these unforgettable sugar-coated dreamy delights. But are you all about the filling? If so, you will not be disappointed as it’s jam packed with their fresh homemade vanilla bean custard, which is really what makes this doughnut so special!

Sometimes tradition just can’t be beaten and that’s certainly the case at St. JOHN.
