Bike Shed Motorcycle Club
The Bike Shed is a place of ‘common ground’ where people from all walks of life can come together to share their appreciation for motorcycles.
Originally, The Bike Shed Motorcycle Club started in 2011 as a blog by Anthony “Dutch” van Someren, which commented on the way that the ‘new wave’ of custom motorcycles was taking the two-wheeled world by storm. His site evolved to be the largest independent motorcycle blog online, attracting a huge global following.
This led to the idea of hosting their first motorcycle pop-up event in 2013 celebrating the ‘creative scene around the motorcycle custom culture’. The event showcased 55 custom bikes from across the world under two arches in Shoreditch and attracted around 3000 visitors. Although, the bikes where not the only focus of the show, with motorcycle inspired: art, photography, specialist retailers, a tattoo pop-up and barbershop all on hand to create a fully immersive lifestyle event.
Due to the popularity of their shows, it made sense that the Bike Shed should become a permanent space, offering a thrilling destination for the new-wave custom motorcycle community to hangout and celebrate their fervour for motorcycles.
The Bike Shed opened in 2015, taking over four renovated railway arches on Old Street. The enormous 10,000 sq. ft space houses a curated retail shop, 100-seater restaurant, event space and even a barbershop!
An unrivalled community spirit flows through The Bike Shed’s arches and I never leave it long between visits because for me it’s the people and their passion for motorcycles, that makes this MC so special.
